Just say no to new fossil fuel processing in Philadelphia? City Council should hear from constitutents according to Planet Philadelphia guest.
Is it really the best policy for PGW to enter into a contract for 20—25 years of new LNG gas development in light of the UN’s IPCC report and the recent US federal government’s stark National Climate Assessment detailing how we are already badly affected by the climate crisis? The strongly worded report also pointed out that what we experience now is only a taste of the disasters coming our way if we do not rapidly switch from fossil fueled energy to renewable energy,
What is the best policy? Local environmental activist, Meenal Raval, and many others think that a new PGW LNG (liquefied natural gas) facility at its Passyunk plant is an irresponsibly bad project. She says that City Council needs to hear this from us.
Ms. Raval asks that people submit a comment questioning this project to Anna Rowe (email@example.com) of the Philadelphia Gas Commission, copying Meenal Raval (firstname.lastname@example.org) of 350 Philly. People have until Wednesday, Nov 28th 2018 to send in written testimony.
There will be a public meeting of the Philadelphia Gas Commission on Tuesday, December 4th, at 10:00 AM at 1515 Arch St, 18th Floor. For more information, Ms. Raval suggests going to 350philly.org/NoLNG.
On the December 7th Planet Philadelphia Ms. Raval will tell us why she thinks this new gas project is wrong. Please do tune in to Planet Philadelphia 4-5 pm Friday Dec. 7th on WGGT-LP 92.9 FM Germantown Community Radio and streaming at gtownradio.com to hear Ms. Raval and a lot more.
