New economics research findings showing that climate change is affecting everything:
Amine Ouazad is an Associate Professor at Rutgers Business School. His research focuses on urban and real estate economics, and his research on climate risk in mortgage markets. He chaired an Allied Social Science Associations conference held in San Antonio recently. This is the largest gathering of economists discussing the latest research. He will talk about the new economics findings show that climate change is affecting everything.

The Biden administration’s pause on approving new LNG export facilities:
Morgan Johnson works with the Sustainable FERC Project, at the NRDC that promotes the transition to a clean, low-carbon, and sustainable energy future. Johnson represents the project in its gas advocacy work before FERC, DOE, and other forums. The Biden administration wants the DOE to pause building new LNG export facilities to examine if current practice is in the public interest. Ms. Johnson will talk about what this pause means for the industry, our health, and environment.

Philly won a big EV workforce grant:
Lily Reynolds was appointed as the Director of Federal Infrastructure Strategy for the City of Philadelphia in 2022. She is an urban planner specializing in infrastructure, transportation systems, and community engagement. As Director, Lily is leading a cross-departmental team to ensure the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law builds wealth for Philadelphia residents who have long been excluded from opportunity, especially people of color. She will talk about the new grant and what is in store for all Philadelphians who may be interested in the new opportunities in EV infrastructure jobs.

We will be talking to people in two major groups working hard to make the city better and more resilient. Planet Philadelphia environmental radio show airing 4-5:00 PM Friday 2/16/2024:

R Merriman-Goldring with Philly Thrive talks about their organizing for Environmental Justice in Gray's Ferry, a neighborhood in South Philadelphia with many environmental justice challenges. Philly Thrive engaged in a successful campaign to close the PES Oil Refinery. Now Philly Thrive plans to establish a Climate Resiliency Hub in Philadelphia. The hub will serve as a resource for community climate resilience programs and climate emergency response. It will offer green job training for residents including a pilot program to maintain and plant trees to counter urban heat effects.

They educate neighbors and stakeholders about clean water issues and how we can all make a difference at our homes and businesses, on our trails, and in our parks and communities.

Ruth A. Seeley with Friends of Vernon Park. Friends of Vernon Park is an intergenerational volunteer stewardship group devoted to Vernon Park & our community. Vernon Park is an 8-acre park, one of the few green spaces in this area of Germantown. They work on connecting our watershed residents and communities to their creeks! Through hands-on education, stewardship, restoration, and advocacy, we empower our constituents to take care of and improve the impaired waterways across our 30 square miles.
