Planet Philadelphia environmental radio show 4-5:00 PM Friday 2/4/22: Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is a utility owned by the city and provides all the city’s natural gas needs. The city has a goal of zero greenhouse gas emissions in the future. How can PGW transition to support this goal, remain financially viable, give affordable services to its customers, and continue to provide jobs for its labor force? Exploration of these questions can be useful not only to Philadelphia but to other cities, or natural gas utilities, contemplating such transitions.

What are some of the issues that come up when women work on environmental issues?
- Amy Laura Cahn and Sarah McKinstry Wu Amy Laura is the Director of the Environmental Justice Clinic at Vermont Law School and operates as a community-based movement lawyer. Sarah is the Director of grant making at Bread and Roses community fund, a Philadelphia-based social justice fund which moves money to organizers. They will discuss their perspectives on the intersection of women and the environment and on marginalized groups in general.

Discussions on ways to communicate about the climate crisis, ways that may bypass the rational, cognitive sides of ourselves. We talk with Stephan Crawford, Executive Producer of The Climate Music Project, about developing and presenting music and its communicative effectiveness about climate change. Our second interview is with Simone Spicer, a sculptor working just outside of Philadelphia, about her approach to environmental art and her relationship to her work.
