1) College students may apply for paid summer internships from the state's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The applications are due 3/1. Go to the DEP website to find out more information. 2) State Representative Christopher Rabb has written a memo to all the PA state House members about supporting a House bill having the state transition to 100% renewables by 2050. You can write your PA congressional members to support this bill. 3) The Keeling Curve prize is given for projects that tackle global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions or increasing carbon uptake. A total of $250,000 is given divided among 10 projects. The deadline to apply for this year's prize is 2/1. To find out more or apply go to www.kcurveprize.org 4) The Clean Air Council and 80+ co-petitioners have filed a petition and draft regulations with the PA Environmental Quality Board to implement an economy-wide cap and trade program in PA. To sign the petition and learn more about it go to: https://cleanair.org/?s=petition. This proposal is purported to be better than RGGI as it includes all sources of energy, not just electricity, and counts carbon from that the states generates as well as uses. E4TheFuture is a Massachusetts based organization that promotes residential clean energy and sustainable resource solutions to advance climate protection and economic fairness by influencing federal, state and local policies, and by helping to build a resilient and vibrant energy efficiency and clean energy sector. In October, Pat received the Energy Champion award from Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEEA) in Philadelphia. Pat was among those presenting to the U.S. legislative staff the findings of a recent national report on the availability of energy efficiency jobs broken down by state. She will be discussing this report. Representative from the ECA (Energy Coordinating Agency) which helps people conserve energy and promotes a sustainable and socially equitable energy future for all in the Philadelphia regionincluding training workers to do energy efficiency audits on housing. Their representative will be talking about this training program and the availability of energy efficiency jobs in our area.
