On the next Planet Philadelphia (4-5:00 pm 4/19/19) we will have young Sunrise Philadelphia members Abby Leedy and Xavier Thomas as guests at here the G-Town Radio Station along with Liz Robinson, consultant to the PA Solar Energy Industries Association and the founding Executive Director of the Energy Coordinating Agency. This show introduces Liz Robinson in her new role as a semi-regular Harrisburg commentator here on Planet Philadelphia.
Ms. Robinson, and Abby Leedy and Xavier Thomas from Sunrise Philadelphia will have the chance on this show to discuss many environmental justice issues and in particular climate change. Ms. Robinson has been working for years to have Pennsylvania make a just transition to a clean and renewable energy economy, part of the what the Sunrise Movement wants for the state and the nation.
The Sunrise Movement believes that quick and decisive action is needed to address climate change. Sunrise Philadelphia members Abby Leedy and Xavier Thomas call for Philadelphia to adopt a Green New Deal (GND). They believe it will take all levels of government and all parts of society mobilizing and acting together to realize the historic transformation needed at the scale and speed required to transform our society in time to face the existential challenge climate change presents.
