Podcast: 12/20/19 Planet Philadelphia

12/21/2019

What’s happening to birds and bees and other vital critters as the climate changes.

Three great guests on this Planet Philadelphia aired 12/20/19 on 92.9FM WGGT-LP:
  • Jason Weckstein, Ph.D., associate professor Drexel University’s Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science and associate curator at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in the Department of Ornithology. He is an ornithologist and will discuss recent research on bird populations including the relationship of these trends to evolutionary history.
  • Douglas Sponsler, Ph.D., postdoctoral scholar at Penn State University and honorary research associate at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. His work focuses on the ecology of flowers and insects in urban landscapes. He will be discussing trends in bee population and the implications of these data.
  • Carrie Barron, Center Manager and Director of Communications, John James Audubon Center, Audubon PA. She will be telling us about Audubon’s research on the decline in bird populations and perhaps a little about this year’s Christmas Bird Count.
