Our interviews with Dr. Tamma Carleton, professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management of the University of California Santa Barbara, and with Dr. Richard Bradbury, the head of the “people conservation science” team at the Centre for Conservation Science of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and honorary research fellow at Cambridge University, explore why the social cost of carbon (SCC), its calculation and its amount are important. As examples, would a higher cost of SCC persuade decision makers to lower air pollution, support alternatives to fertilizer, use greener electricity, or conserve natural habitats?

Abandoned oil and gas wells,

We talk with Adam Peltz, Senior Attorney in the Environmental Defense Fund’s (EDF) Energy program about the problems/dangers of these wells and what can we do about them. Camel fur inspired cooling material, 1/1/2021
Our wide ranging conversation with Dr. Nicola Ferralis about promising developments in future technology which could help with climate change, including something his own lab at MIT is working on: a system for electricity-free cooling material inspired by camel fur of all things. Dr. Ferralis is a Research Scientist in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT and Program Manager for the MIT Energy Initiative Low Energy Carbon Center on Energy Storage.
