How do the production of food, the preservation of the environment and sustainability fit together?

Elspeth Hay, host of the Local Food Report has a new book, Feed Us with Trees: Nuts and the Future of Food. She researched holistic, nutrient-dense diets rooted in wild foods and ancient knowledge. Hay spoke with nut growers, scientists, Indigenous knowledge-keepers, researchers, and food professionals. She describes how certain trees once played a vital environmental role as keystone species.
John Davis, former executive director of The Rewilding Institute and editor of Rewilding Earth serves on boards of RESTORE: The North Woods, Eddy Foundation, Champlain Area Trails, Cougar Rewilding Foundation, and Algonquin to Adirondack Conservation Collaborative. He talks with us about the economic and social implications of population decline, and what different levels of population mean for us and the planet, including our ability to feed ourselves.

Richard Wiles, Center for Climate Integrity, talks about the underhanded push going on now to have the US Congress protect Big Oil from billions in climate change liability claims costs that would land on taxpayers were this effort successful.
Tracy Carluccio, Delaware River Keeper Network, talks about a recent Pennsylvania legislative public hearing about attempts to build a liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Philadelphia/Chester side of the river and how proponents have tried hard to keep their plans hidden from the public.

Richard Wiles is the President of the Center for Climate Integrity where he guides the organization’s efforts to expose Big Oil’s lies and demand accountability. Their organization harnesses expertise in law, science, advocacy, research, and strategic communications. We are talking to him about the efforts by various forces to limit liability claims against the harms from Big Oil and what is being done to counteract these forces.

Tracy Carluccio, Deputy Director of the Delaware River Keeper Network. The Network works on the issues, actions, regulations, legislation, policies, programs and decisions that impact the health of our Delaware River Watershed waterways. She discusses yet another attempt to build a liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Philadelphia/Chester side of the river. The developers of this project, she tells us, have tried hard to keep their plans hidden from the public.

There has been a lot of mis/disinformation and unethical conduct over the years in the climate change arena. We explore some projects of national significance which are attempting to counteract this conduct.

She is discussing a recent Pennsylvania legislative public hearing about attempts to build a liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Philadelphia/Chester side of the river. Tracy was one of the testifiers at this hearing. The developers of this project, she tells us, have tried hard to keep their plans hidden from the public.

For a variety of reasons, our US power grid is increasingly imperiled, particularly the PJM grid. PJM is the largest of our national grids and serves 13 states in the northeast and Mid-Atlantic. We explore the reasons for this problem and the steps being taken to cope with this growing crisis. We talk bout all this with Ethan Howland, Senior Reporter for Utility Dive and covers the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Congress and electricity markets.
