He serves as Majority Chair of the House Environmental and Natural Resource Protection Committee. Pennsylvanians started drilling oil in the 1850s, and the commonwealth has thousands of old and newly abandoned oil and gas wells, as well as high levels of pollution. To deal with some of this Rep. Vitali introduced House Bill 364 which would restore a Board under the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Environmental Quality Board’s, authority to increase conventional oil and gas well plugging bonds to help prevent hundreds of new well abandonments a year. He also introduced House Bill 109, legislation requiring stricter oversight of industrial permits in environmental justice areas. He will discuss these bills. ![]() Liz Robinson is the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association. She also is a long-time advocate for environmental issues, particularly in the Philadelphia region. She will talk, more in depth this time, about increases in energy prices for consumers and businesses as well as about the regulatory environment for energy, particularly in Pennsylvania. ![]() Carly Lare, Executive Director, the Chester, Ridley, and Crum Watersheds Association (CRC).
